Insurance for children affected by attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and attention deficit disorder (ADD) is now available. Three insurers currently offer this type of policy.
Children360 Insurance offered by Humania Assurance
Children360 insurance offered by Humania Assurance is first and foremost a critical illness insurance for children between the ages of 30 days and 15 years of age. Two benefits are available: Critical illness coverage only or critical illness coverage or life insurance (payable at first event).
The main product features are as follows:
- Available sum insured: $10,000 to $50,000;
- Covers 37 conditions and critical illnesses, including ADHD and ADD;
- Fixed premium guaranteed up to age 75;
- Premium reimbursement option every 15 years and at age 75;
- Several additional options: Compassion Coverage, Hospitalization Benefit, Out‑of-Canada Medical Coverage and Accident Benefit.

Industrial Alliance and Excellence
With their new Access Life and the Excellence Assure & Go life insurance products, Industrial Alliance and Excellence Life Insurance Company now offer insurance for children as of 6 months of age.
Main product features:
- Available sum insured: $10,000 to $25,000;
- No questions about neural disorders;
- Four underwriting categories available;
- Cash values are available as of the fifth year;
- Reduced paid-up values available.
